Foundation type is dependent on needs, budget, and location. Generally speaking:
Wood floors on skids are budget friendly and are great if the shed needs to be moved.
Gravel Pads offer the benefits of concrete but at a more budget friendly overall cost. Drainage and erosion are often overlooked issues that can and will arrive if your shed isn’t placed on properly.
Concrete slabs are the sturdiest and will provide the best base for your shed. They also allow for the storage of corrosive items and are easily maintained.
Wood floor on piers offer a stable base and allow for building on a sloped surface, making the pier option great for utilizing sloped areas of your property.
Caution! Some companies will sell you a shed that is built in their shop and delivered on the back of a truck and attempt to level it with cinder blocks upon delivery. This works in certain applications but may not be suitable for many over the long term. Due to thermal expansion and soil runoff, this can greatly diminish the longevity of your building. This can be avoided by building on piers that set below the freeze line without adding significantly more to the overall cost of the building. Speaking to a foundation expert before purchasing your shed will help to maintain the value of your shed and the items it stores.
Sheds that are built according to IBC (international) building code should last as long as a typical house or other wood framed building. The two biggest reasons for early shed failure are poor foundation/placement and cheap or lack of proper material. While a proper foundation and the proper materials may cost a little more up front, the value in terms of longevity far outweigh not properly preparing the site or using inferior/less building material.
Yes and no.
A poorly constructed shed could become a liability while a quality shed will add value to your property. Therefore, it is important to consult with an expert when deciding what solution is right for you.
The slope of the roof provides an aesthetic look as well as providing utility in certain areas. Generally, roofs with a steep slope are used in the mountains where snow can accumulate. Having a steep slope allows the snow to shed off before causing structural damage due to the weight. We can help you determine which application is best for you.
Ventilation is a must to preserve the longevity of your building and the items in it. There are many types of ventilation systems we use depending on your desired look and budget. We can help you determine which system is right for you.
It depends. Even the most stringent of municipalities typically allow for 120 sq ft without a permit. And some of the more rural areas allow for 400 sq ft. Every municipality has their own building codes which differ from each other, not to mention HOA codes. We can help guide you but cannot make the determination if a permit is right for you. We leave the determination up the homeowner and the authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ).
Both items require vast amounts of knowledge and experience which we do not have and don’t have the scale for. We can work with your plumber and/or electrician to ensure proper inclusions in the design and construction, and in some cases can even bring in a trade partner into to handle these tasks.
It depends. Sheds built on skids can be moved, but the cost of moving it can negate the effort. If you are renting and considering one of our solutions, it may be best to consult with your landlord to work out a deal as it will increase the value of the unit. If not, a box store solution may be right until you get into your own place.
It depends. What is best for you may different for others. The best way to answer this question is to consider your wants and needs. What will your shed be used for? Where will it be placed? Is design and asthetics important to you? Is value important to you. As you can see there are many possibilities, and is the reason to talk to an expert before making a purchase.

Most people prefer T1-11 as it is great at protecting the inside of the shed from weather, and also has excellent sheer strength, however we have been asked to match the siding on peoples house and as long as we can source the material, we can include that in your quote.

We dont. In order to keep our overhead low, so we can offer high quality at a fair price, we build our sheds on site and don't have a facility needed to prepare kits. However, if you are tempted to build a shed yourself, email us and we might have a set of drawings we can share with you.
